Transport Planner / Manager – Felixstowe

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner/Manager to join a busy container haulage operation in Felixstowe. The role is based at the port and involves coordinating the movement of containers across the UK supply chain, ensuring smooth daily operations while meeting customer and driver requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily container movements and bookings.
• Manage container releases, port‑related scheduling and liaise with terminal systems.
• Work closely with drivers, customers, subcontractors and internal teams to monitor live operations.
• Resolve delays, breakdowns or disruptions and adjust transport plans in real time.
• Optimise fleet utilisation and reduce inefficiencies.
• Support operational administration, compliance processes and ensure adherence to transport regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in container transport planning (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of Felixstowe port operations (highly desirable).
• Background in a traffic office or transport coordination role.
• Familiarity with Destin8 or TOPS systems (advantageous).
• Excellent organisational and problem‑solving abilities, able to work under pressure.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• CPC qualification (mandatory for Transport Manager level).
