Transport Supervisor

About the role

First Military Recruitment is partnering with a client in Purton to hire a Transport Supervisor. The role involves overseeing daily transport operations, ensuring compliance, and leading a team of drivers to deliver safe and reliable services.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with transport, environmental and health & safety regulations, including tachograph management and vehicle defect reporting.
• Plan and optimise daily vehicle routes to maximise efficiency and meet collection and delivery schedules.
• Monitor driver performance, provide coaching, and address under‑performance.
• Investigate vehicle accidents, incidents and staff conduct, producing accurate reports and follow‑up actions.
• Maintain operational standards for vehicles, sites and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and resource availability.
• Maintain accurate transport documentation and operational records in line with legal requirements.
• Support credit control processes and ensure timely completion of paperwork.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• Collaborate with transport coordinators, depot management and internal teams to ensure smooth daily operations.

Required profile

• Previous experience in transport, logistics, fleet operations or distribution, preferably in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
• Strong planning and organisational abilities with a focus on route optimisation.
• Good understanding of transport compliance, driver regulations and health & safety standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective relationships across teams.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in managing documentation.
