Transportation Lead (Nuclear Project)

About the role

The Transportation Lead will oversee planning, design coordination and technical integration of all transportation‑related infrastructure for the first‑of‑a‑kind UK SMR project. This includes park‑and‑ride facilities, off‑site highway upgrades, new access roads and temporary haul roads, acting as the primary interface between the client, consultants, contractors and third‑party stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain transportation infrastructure plans and designs aligned with the SMR programme.
• Coordinate with consultants and contractors to ensure design consistency and timely delivery.
• Integrate transportation works into the overall project schedule and budget.
• Ensure all works comply with UK regulatory, safety and environmental requirements.
• Oversee construction of park‑and‑ride facilities, highway improvements, access roads and temporary haul routes.
• Serve as the main point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular progress updates and managing issues.
• Contribute to the establishment of programme governance and reporting structures.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering transportation infrastructure for large‑scale projects.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles related to roads and access facilities.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Knowledge of UK transport regulations and safety standards.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
