Tutor for SEN/SEMH Support (Part‑time)

About the role
Prospero Teaching is seeking compassionate tutors to support young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges in Dorset. You will deliver one‑to‑one tuition, helping learners re‑engage with education and reach their potential.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging 1:1 sessions that meet individual student needs.
- Assess and monitor progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Record attendance and weekly progress reports.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement.
- Adapt teaching approaches to be calm, fair and flexible.
Required profile
- Nurturing, caring nature with patience and empathy.
- Understanding of the National Curriculum.
- Experience working with secondary‑aged pupils, preferably in English, Maths and optionally Science.
- Minimum six months of educational experience.
- Experience supporting learners with SEN/SEMH needs.
Required skills
- Ability to teach English, Maths and optionally Science to secondary students.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to record progress accurately.
