Tutor for Young People with SEND and SEMH

About the role

Leader Education is seeking passionate tutors to support disengaged, at‑risk, and vulnerable young people in Greater Manchester. You will work with learners who have SEND, SEMH, LAC, or are EOTAS, delivering tailored, trauma‑informed tutoring that boosts engagement and outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group tutoring for primary and secondary students with additional educational needs.
• Design and deliver creative, flexible lessons using drama, arts, and other activities.
• Adopt a holistic, trauma‑informed approach to raise student engagement.
• Maintain accurate records of progress and communicate with schools and families.

Required profile

• Professional Teaching Qualification (QTS or equivalent).
• Minimum two years of teaching experience.
• Experience supporting learners with SEND, SEMH, LAC, or EOTAS.
• Enhanced DBS (can be obtained through Leader Education at cost).
• Two professional references.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEND and SEMH interventions.
• Ability to create engaging, differentiated lesson plans.
• Strong pastoral and mental‑health awareness.
