About the role

We are seeking a detail‑driven Umbrella Payroll Assistant to join our team in St Albans. The role offers the chance to shape payroll and finance data processes, moving beyond routine tasks to drive real change across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain data integrity across finance and payroll systems, ensuring a single source of truth.
• Oversee timesheet, self‑billing and non‑labour sales processes, meeting strict deadlines.
• Drive standardisation, compliance and scalability of payroll procedures.
• Respond to payroll queries from internal stakeholders.
• Partner with finance and business teams to support performance reporting and decision‑making.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with umbrella payroll schemes.
• Full cycle, in‑house payroll administration experience.
• Knowledge of pension administration.
• Highly organised, analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Proactive attitude with confidence to challenge and improve existing processes.
