Unix/Linux Engineer – Manchester (Hybrid)

About the role

The Unix/Linux Engineer will join Experis to support and maintain the organisation's Linux and Unix environments. You will ensure reliability, performance and security across production and non‑production systems while working in a hybrid model (3‑5 days on site per week).

Key responsibilities

• Administer Linux/Unix servers in both production and non‑production environments.
• Monitor system health, performance and capacity, identifying and resolving issues promptly.
• Troubleshoot incidents, outages and service disruptions to restore service.
• Apply updates, patches and configuration changes in line with organisational standards.
• Automate routine operational tasks and schedule jobs to improve efficiency.
• Support infrastructure projects such as server builds, migrations and upgrades.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation, procedures and configuration records.
• Collaborate with other teams to contribute to overall infrastructure improvements.

Required profile

• Eligibility for Security Clearance (SC) as required by the client.
• Proven experience in Linux/Unix system administration and troubleshooting.
