Unqualified Teaching Assistant

About the role

This entry‑level position offers individuals without formal teaching qualifications the chance to gain hands‑on experience in a school setting. Starting in September 2026, you will work within supportive classroom environments across Preston, helping pupils achieve their potential during term‑time hours.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in preparing learning materials and maintaining a focused classroom atmosphere.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to help students understand lesson content and stay motivated.
• Offer additional guidance to pupils with special educational needs to ensure inclusive access to the curriculum.
• Supervise break times and contribute to the overall safety and well‑being of pupils throughout the school day.

Required profile

• Patient, nurturing and adaptable attitude when working with children.
• Transferable experience from care, sports coaching, youth work, volunteering or parenting.
• Strong communication skills and confidence managing small groups.
• Reliability and a commitment to becoming a consistent presence in the school.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required.
