Unqualified Teaching Assistant – SEND & SEMH Specialist (Blackburn)

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports pupils with SEND and SEMH needs in specialist provisions across Blackburn. You will work alongside teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to deliver tailored learning experiences and promote positive behaviour.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for students with additional needs.
• Assist teachers in delivering differentiated and engaging lessons.
• Implement individual learning plans and behaviour strategies.
• Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Create a safe, structured and nurturing classroom environment.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet each pupil’s needs.
• Follow safeguarding policies at all times.

Required profile

• Genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs.
• Enhanced Child DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• At least two years of recent employment history with references.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Resilient, patient and adaptable attitude.
