Unqualified Teaching Assistant – SEND & SEMH Specialist (Preston)

About the role

We are seeking dedicated Unqualified Teaching Assistants to support students with SEND and SEMH needs in specialist provisions across Preston. This full‑time, term‑time only position offers the chance to gain valuable experience in a rewarding educational environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEND and SEMH requirements.
• Assist teachers in delivering differentiated and engaging learning activities.
• Promote positive behaviour and help students develop emotional regulation strategies.
• Build trusting relationships to encourage student engagement and participation.
• Support pupils inside and outside the classroom, including during break times.
• Implement individual learning plans and behaviour strategies under teacher guidance.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams.
• Adhere to safeguarding policies at all times.

Required profile

• Genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs.
• Enhanced Child DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Minimum two years of recent employment with references available.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships.
• Resilient, patient, and adaptable attitude.

• Competitive daily rate of £110‑£115 (dependent on travel and role).
