Urban Driver Apprentice – Category C (18t)

About the role

This is a 15‑month Urban Driver Apprenticeship where you will learn all aspects of professional driving and gain a Category C2 (18t) licence. The programme also includes obtaining the required CPC licences and completing non‑driving duties such as office work, driver’s mate tasks and warehousing.

Key responsibilities

• Represent DX in a professional manner at all times.
• Carry out all tasks required as part of the apprenticeship training.
• Drive vehicles safely and legally, complying with all company and statutory requirements.
• Perform daily vehicle checks, report defects and complete necessary paperwork.
• Scan all products using DX scanning equipment and load deliveries safely.
• Follow DX procedures and policies, manage routing to meet premium and timed deliveries.
• Use and maintain appropriate PPE and equipment.
• Report delivery or on‑road issues to the traffic office immediately.
• Ensure customers receive deliveries in excellent condition and handle any issues politely.
• Make collections according to given instructions and schedules.

Required profile

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Minimum of 12 months UK driving experience.
• Hold a valid UK driving licence.
• Willingness to obtain a Category C2 (18t) licence and CPC licence during the programme.
• Ability to perform office, driver’s mate and warehousing duties as part of training.
