Utility Arboriculture Field Manager

About the role

The position is based in the Northwest of England, supporting the SPENW vegetation management contract. As a Utility Arboriculture Field Manager you will lead the operational performance of the contract, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all contract work complies with health, safety, welfare and environmental regulations while maximising profitability.
• Manage client authorisation requirements, company standards of service and quality systems.
• Control documentation in close collaboration with the back‑office support team.
• Lead on‑site pre‑vetting, consenting and planning to meet outage windows with appropriate resources.
• Assess health and safety competence of subcontractors and direct labour before work commences.
• Motivate, delegate and lead a team by example, delivering monthly briefings and two‑way feedback.
• Act as a professional brand ambassador for the company.

Required profile

• Experience working in utilities and utility arboriculture.
• Knowledge of Utility Arb units UA1, 2.1, UA5.
• LANTRA Professional Tree Inspector certification.
• Good verbal communication and management skills.
• Financial and commercial awareness.
• Clean driving licence.
• Experience with DNO (Distribution Network Operator) processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
