Utility Arboriculture Surveyor

About the role

As a Utility Arboriculture Surveyor you will use your technical expertise to deliver a first‑class service to customers, ensuring safety is paramount when maintaining clearances from overhead electrical networks. The role is based in our Hermitage office and supports contracts across the Midlands and South East.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and apply industry legislation and safety guidelines for arboricultural work.
• Conduct site‑specific risk assessments and establish robust emergency procedures.
• Prepare work packs that meet contract specifications to enable operational arborists.
• Liaise with private landowners and stakeholders to obtain consent for works.
• Identify safety zones, understand associated hazards and enforce safety on site.
• Coach and mentor junior team members.
• Collaborate with the wider delivery team to track and complete work according to client requirements.
• Work autonomously while maintaining a professional, first‑class service.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ experience in arboriculture.
• Hold the UA1, UA2.1 and UA5 certifications.
• Experience working on the SSE Utility Tree Contract is desirable.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and manage safety zones.
