Van Driver/Fitter – Temporary Ongoing Assignment

About the role

This temporary, ongoing position is with a council‑owned organisation delivering essential medical equipment and mobility aids to residents in Newham, Waltham Forest and the wider East London area. You will start by supporting an experienced driver while your Enhanced DBS clearance is processed, then progress to independent van driving and basic installations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and collect medical equipment using a 3.5‑tonne van
• Assist with installation and demonstration of equipment in customers' homes
• Provide a professional, compassionate service to vulnerable residents
• Load and unload vehicles safely and perform daily vehicle checks
• Support warehouse operations when deliveries are completed
• Work both independently and as part of a supportive team

Required profile

• Full clean UK driving licence
• Minimum 2 years UK commercial driving experience
• Enhanced DBS will be required and processed
• Minimum 5 years checkable employment history
• Customer‑facing experience
• Proof of right to work in the UK

• Basic power tools for simple installations
