Vehicle Fitter Apprentice – Full‑time Apprenticeship

About the role

This full‑time apprenticeship offers a hands‑on opportunity to work with Torridge District Council’s extensive fleet of vehicles and plant machinery. You will develop practical skills while studying for nationally recognised qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the maintenance and repair of council‑owned vehicles and plant equipment.
• Carry out routine checks, pre‑MOT inspections and roadworthiness assessments.
• Support senior mechanics in diagnosing faults and completing repairs.
• Attend weekly training sessions at Exeter College and, if required, an additional day for English and maths support.

Required profile

• Enthusiasm for a career in automotive and heavy‑vehicle maintenance.
• Either a Level 2 Automotive Apprenticeship or no prior automotive qualifications (in which case you will start with a Level 2 Autocare Technician Apprenticeship).
• Ability to commit to a 37‑hour work week and attend college training.
