Vehicle Technician – Full‑time, £37k, Billingshurst

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician to join a family‑run automotive dealership in Billingshurst. The role involves delivering high‑quality servicing, diagnostics and repairs on a wide range of commercial, passenger and off‑road vehicles within a supportive, safety‑focused workshop environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled servicing, maintenance and inspections on motor and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and wiring diagrams.
• Carry out fault‑finding, repairs and refurbishments on diverse vehicle types, including off‑road equipment.
• Assist with pre‑delivery inspections on new and pre‑owned vehicles and complete accurate job cards.
• Maintain workshop safety standards, cleanliness and support junior technicians through mentoring.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a service vehicle technician or in a similar motor‑trade role.
• Strong diagnostic, repair and routine servicing abilities.
• Familiarity with commercial vehicles, passenger cars and off‑road equipment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Flexibility to support out‑of‑hours work when required.

Required skills

• Vehicle diagnostics using manufacturer‑approved tools.
• Electrical fault diagnosis and interpretation of wiring diagrams.
• Mechanical repair and component replacement.
• Wheel alignment and tyre replacement procedures.
• Knowledge of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) – advantageous.
