Veterans Support Worker – Honiton & Exeter

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Veterans Support Worker to provide person‑centred assistance to ex‑service personnel and individuals at risk of homelessness across Honiton and Exeter. You will help clients develop independence, achieve personal goals, and access essential services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of 5–8 veterans and homeless‑risk clients.
• Develop, review and update individual support plans and risk assessments.
• Assist clients with housing, mental health, substance misuse, benefits, employment, education and training needs.
• Collaborate with external agencies, landlords and partner organisations.
• Facilitate access to community services and promote self‑determination.

Required profile

• Demonstrated empathy for the challenges faced by ex‑veterans.
• Excellent communication and active‑listening skills.
• Proactive, problem‑solving mindset with ability to handle complex situations.
• Experience supporting vulnerable individuals, preferably in housing, homelessness or social care.

Required skills

• £15.34 per hour plus holiday pay.
• 30‑hour week (Monday‑Friday) with occasional Saturday work.
• Temp‑to‑perm contract providing a pathway to permanent employment.
