Vice President, Data Science

About the role

The Enterprise Solutions Technology team is looking for a senior leader to define and execute the AI/ML roadmap across a regulated financial‑services estate. This hands‑on position combines strategic planning with end‑to‑end model development, ensuring analytical solutions meet operational and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate production‑grade machine‑learning and analytical systems for anomaly detection, forecasting, drift detection and market signals.
• Own the full model lifecycle: data exploration, feature engineering, back‑testing, validation, deployment, monitoring and continuous tuning.
• Collaborate with engineering, data platform and product teams to translate business problems into robust AI solutions.
• Provide technical guidance, review work and influence model‑related decisions across the organisation.
• Step in to diagnose and remediate model degradation or failure in production environments.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering applied data science and machine‑learning solutions in production within banking, capital markets or similarly regulated, data‑intensive settings.
• Deep grounding in statistics, machine learning, time‑series analysis and predictive modelling under real‑world operational constraints.
• Hands‑on ownership of complex, imperfect datasets, including handling missing data, outliers, regime changes and evolving schemas.
• Ability to balance advanced modelling techniques with simpler approaches and recognise when modelling is not appropriate.
