Visiting Music Teacher – Singing

About the role

The King's School in Macclesfield is looking for an enthusiastic Visiting Music Teacher (Singing) to join its Music Department from September 2026. Working on a self‑employed basis, you will deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group singing lessons to pupils of all ages, helping them progress from beginners to Grade 8 standard.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging singing lessons that develop vocal technique, aural skills and music theory.
• Provide one‑to‑one tuition and occasional small‑group or ensemble sessions.
• Prepare pupils for ABRSM and Trinity examinations where appropriate.
• Set targets, assess progress and produce formal reports.
• Encourage participation in school concerts, choirs and other performances.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and organise weekly timetables.
• Liaise with the Director of Music and other staff regarding schedules and pupil development.

Required profile

• Relevant performance qualifications in singing.
• Experience teaching a wide age range and ability levels.
• Strong vocal performance and sight‑reading abilities.
• Proven track record preparing students for music examinations.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to individual learning needs.
• Organised, reliable and able to manage a self‑directed timetable.
