Visiting Site Manager – Southern Region

About the role

The Visiting Site Manager will act as the vital link between site operations, the Construction Manager, production, and commercial teams, ensuring projects across the Southern Region are delivered safely, on time, and to quality standards. Based in Tutbury with one office day per week, the role involves extensive travel to multiple live construction sites.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑mobilisation site visits to assess access, readiness and logistics.
• Attend pre‑order, pre‑start and progress meetings with clients and contractors.
• Visit multiple live construction sites each week to monitor progress and provide practical support.
• Promote safe working practices and report health & safety concerns.
• Ensure Enviromesh installation guidance and approved construction methods are followed.
• Coordinate deliveries with the production team and respond to programme changes.
• Advise the commercial department on specialist plant, access or non‑standard construction requirements.
• Produce concise site‑visit reports via the online quality‑assurance system.
• Monitor project progress, flagging risks that could affect schedule or cost.
• Build positive relationships with clients, contractors and installation teams.
• Escalate technical or commercial issues promptly.
• Capture lessons learned for continual improvement and assist with guidance and toolbox talk development.

Required profile

• 5–10 years’ experience in UK earthworks, groundworks or civil engineering.
• Practical, proactive with a positive, can‑do attitude.
• Well‑organised, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Professional and confident when dealing with clients and contractors.
• Capable of working independently while recognising when to seek advice.

Required skills

• SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
• IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and site layouts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• CSCS Supervisor Card (desirable).
