Visiting & Tenancy Sustainment Officer

About the role

The Visiting & Tenancy Sustainment Officer will work directly with tenants and residents in North London, providing practical support to help them maintain their tenancies and live independently. This full‑time, temporary position involves regular home visits, early‑warning assessments and coordinated interventions with housing teams and external agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct home visits to assess tenancy sustainment needs and identify support requirements.
• Provide advice and practical assistance on rent arrears, benefits, budgeting and health concerns.
• Identify early warning signs of tenancy failure and implement appropriate intervention plans.
• Carry out welfare, safeguarding checks and risk assessments where required.
• Collaborate with housing management to reduce breaches and prevent evictions.
• Signpost and refer residents to health, social care, welfare, employment and community services.
• Develop personalised support plans and monitor progress against agreed outcomes.
• Maintain accurate case records in line with data protection policies.

Required profile

• Experience working with vulnerable adults or in a housing support environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multi‑agency team.
• Knowledge of local benefit systems and tenancy legislation.
