Vocational Assessor – Industrial Cleaning and Waste Management

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Vocational Assessor specialising in Industrial Cleaning and Waste Management. Working within a custodial setting at HMP Leyhill, you will support learners to achieve NVQ qualifications and build brighter futures.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to and assess learners in various workplaces across the assigned region.
• Provide feedback, guidance and support as learners work towards their NVQ qualifications.
• Gather and verify evidence of learners' skills and knowledge.
• Evaluate performance against NVQ standards and deliver constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of learner progress and assessment outcomes.
• Plan and deliver training sessions to develop required competencies.
• Participate in quality‑assurance activities to ensure compliance with awarding‑organisation standards.
• Collaborate with prison managers and external employers.

Required profile

• Assessors Award or equivalent qualification (e.g., CAVA).
• Recent assessing experience (within the last six months) in vocational qualifications.
• Ability to guide and assess learners in basic‑level certifications.
• Strong organisational and record‑keeping skills.
