About the role
We are seeking a compassionate Waking Night Support Worker to join a children’s residential home in South East London. The role involves providing overnight care, safety and emotional support to young residents in a calm, secure environment.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver overnight support to children and young people.
- Promote a safe, calm and secure home environment.
- Carry out welfare checks and record observations.
- Maintain accurate handovers and records.
- Support safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Administer medication when required.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies.
- Collaborate closely with the wider residential care team.
Required profile
- Experience working with children and young people is desirable.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Reliable, compassionate and resilient.
- Strong communication and recording abilities.
- Ability to work independently during night shifts.

- Up to £13.46 per hour (approximately £26,520‑£33,000 per year).
