Ward Nurse – Weekend Sessions

About the role

We are seeking experienced Ward Nurses to provide additional weekend coverage on busy General Surgery and Urology wards across multiple NHS Trusts in England. This flexible, part‑time role allows you to work alongside seasoned teams while maintaining your current commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to surgical in‑patients.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care throughout the inpatient surgical pathway.
• Administer medications and treatments safely in line with NMC guidelines and local policies.
• Monitor and record observations, escalating clinical concerns when needed.
• Support patients pre‑ and post‑operatively to ensure safe recovery.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
• Current or recent (minimum 6 months in the last 12 months) experience in a surgical or inpatient ward setting.
• Proven NHS experience, preferably in general surgery or urology.
• Strong clinical, communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
