Warehouse Clerk – Logistics Operations

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Warehouse Clerk to join Sainsbury’s Operational Execution team at the Haydock distribution centre in St Helens. The role is full‑time (40 hours per week) on a rotating schedule, including weekend shifts, and involves supporting day‑to‑day clerical activities that keep inventory and warehouse operations running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Perform clerical duties across ambient and chilled areas, ensuring accurate inventory records.
• Serve as the first point of contact for external customers, providing clear and courteous communication.
• Collaborate with the team while taking ownership of independent tasks and shift planning.
• Report to the Account Specialist on daily activities, shift schedules and holiday planning.
• Assist with documentation, data entry and basic reporting using digital systems.

Required profile

• Good computer literacy and comfort using digital systems.
• Flexibility to work varied shift patterns, including weekends (approximately 5 out of 8 weekends).
• Strong verbal communication skills and a professional attitude.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.
