Warehouse Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead the engineering/manufacturing warehouse in Newton Abbot. The role focuses on efficient receipt, storage, control and distribution of raw materials, components and finished goods while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day warehouse operations, ensuring safety, efficiency and productivity.
• Lead, coach and develop warehouse staff through training and performance management.
• Oversee receipt, storage, picking, kitting and dispatch of materials to support production.
• Maintain high inventory accuracy via robust stock control and regular cycle counts.
• Develop and monitor warehouse KPIs, identifying improvement opportunities.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen initiatives to eliminate waste and improve workflows.
• Optimise warehouse layout and material flow to boost productivity.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
• Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Planning and Engineering teams for uninterrupted material availability.
• Manage budgets, control operating costs and oversee goods inward inspection.
• Identify and implement automation or digital improvements where appropriate.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a warehouse within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing supply chains and material flow.
• Demonstrated ability to lead Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen projects.
• Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills.
