Warehouse Operative – £30,000 per annum + benefits

About the role

Join a well‑established family‑owned educational supplies business as a Warehouse Operative at our Chelmsford Distribution Centre. You will support the supply chain for over 2,200 schools across the South East, handling a wide range of products in a fast‑moving environment.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload deliveries, verifying incoming shipment contents.
• Pick and pack orders using handheld scanners and other equipment.
• Replenish inventory by restocking shelves and storage areas.
• Store goods safely in line with health and safety regulations.
• Accurately record inventory levels and perform stock checks.
• Maintain a clean and organised work area.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as pump trucks, forklifts, man‑ups and flexi trucks.

Required profile

• Hard‑working, tenacious and dependable with prior warehouse/operations experience.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Good numerical and literacy skills for accurate data recording.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high accuracy standards.
• Ability to meet KPIs and work flexible hours/overtime as needed.
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy loads.
• Valid forklift licence desirable (training available in‑house).
