Warehouse Shift Manager – Charlton

About the role

As a Warehouse Shift Manager you will lead a team of managers at the Charlton site, ensuring operational targets are met and safety standards are upheld. You will act as a key liaison between the customer, Wincanton, and the on‑site workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Motivate and lead a team of managers to achieve planned targets and meet deadlines.
• Monitor, analyse and report daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly KPI data to support data‑driven decisions.
• Ensure health, safety and wellbeing compliance, acting as Site Security Responsible (SSR) under ISO 9001.
• Analyse performance reports, recommend improvements and present findings to the customer.
• Provide a professional service to customers and internal teams, handling escalations promptly.
• Review team performance through regular reviews and personal development discussions.
• Manage attendance, overtime, sickness and performance issues in line with procedures.
• Maintain effective communication across the operation and act as key holder for the site.
• Monitor budgets, manage customer expectations and support union relations.
• Deputise for the Depot Operations Manager and cover duties of other shift managers as needed.

• Proven experience managing and motivating teams to achieve results.
• High standard of customer service with a proactive, flexible "can‑do" attitude.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt style to different audiences.
• Flexibility to work varied shift patterns.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and personal development.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean improvement techniques.
• Understanding of ISO 9001 requirements.
