Warehouse Site General Manager

About the role

The Warehouse Site General Manager will lead the launch and ongoing operation of a new UK distribution centre for a leading global 3PL provider. Reporting to the UK Logistics Director, you will be responsible for shaping strategy, driving performance and ensuring customer satisfaction across a fast‑growing logistics hub.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for all operational activities, including warehousing, distribution, continuous improvement and projects.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing site team of up to 700+ employees through direct managerial reports.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring service excellence.
• Develop and manage an operational budget exceeding £30 million, meeting financial targets while maintaining quality.
• Define and evolve site KPIs, driving standardisation across the new facility.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, regulatory and industry best‑practice standards.
• Continuously evaluate and improve processes to enhance efficiency, quality and cost‑effectiveness.
• Support innovation initiatives, including automation, robotics and new technology adoption.
• Manage relationships with key suppliers and third‑party service providers to ensure timely, cost‑effective services.

Required profile

• Strong logistics, distribution and supply‑chain background – essential.
• Minimum 5 + years experience in a General Manager, Senior General Manager, Regional General Manager, Head of Operations or Operations Director role.
• Proven experience in 3PL warehousing environments – advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi‑disciplinary teams in a fast‑paced environment.
