Waste Supervisor – University Campus

About the role

Join Reconomy Connect as a Waste Supervisor overseeing the University of Hertfordshire sites. You will lead a dedicated on‑site recycling team, ensuring safe and efficient waste management across the campus. The role is full‑time (32.5 hours) and offers the chance to drive sustainability initiatives in a dynamic university environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the on‑site recycling team to deliver high‑quality service.
• Manage day‑to‑day waste and recycling operations, keeping the site running smoothly.
• Build strong relationships with CBRE, the University of Hertfordshire and other campus stakeholders.
• Drive sustainability by maximising recycling rates and reducing general waste.
• Identify and implement improvements to enhance service efficiency and performance.
• Proactively resolve operational challenges and support business continuity planning.
• Provide regular updates and service information to stakeholders.
• Champion health, safety and compliance, ensuring best practice at all times.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence.
• Live within a commutable distance to the site (AL10 9AB).
• Proven experience in waste management, recycling or environmental services.
• Previous experience leading, motivating and developing a team.
• Experience in a large‑scale operational, manufacturing or facilities environment.
• Hands‑on approach with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong relationship‑building skills and confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer‑focused mindset.
