Water Sports Instructor

About the role

Join GLL’s Watersports Team at Herts Young Mariners Base in Cheshunt and deliver a variety of sailing, paddlesports and land‑based activities for children, young people and adults. As a qualified instructor you will lead high‑quality sessions while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver watersports sessions, courses and recreational activities.
• Set up, maintain and pack away equipment at the start and end of each day.
• Monitor health, safety and wellbeing of participants throughout sessions.
• Work collaboratively with other instructors and activity staff.
• Maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding procedures.

Required profile

• National Governing Body (NGB) qualified instructor (e.g., RYA Dinghy Instructor, RYA Powerboat Level 2, Paddle UK Paddlesports Instructor or equivalent).
• Genuine passion for watersports and outdoor education.
• Positive attitude, strong teamwork and excellent customer‑service focus.
• Flexibility, punctuality, reliability, integrity and a can‑do attitude.

Required skills

• RYA Dinghy Instructor qualification (or similar).
• RYA Powerboat Level 2 qualification (or similar).
• Paddle UK Paddlesports Instructor qualification (or similar).
• Ability to set up, maintain and pack watersports equipment.
• Understanding of safeguarding and willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check.
