Water Treatment Operator – Katrine Works

About the role

Join Scottish Water as a Water Treatment Operator at the Katrine Water Treatment Works. You will be part of an experienced team responsible for ensuring Scotland’s water supply meets the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain water quality at treatment works and pumping stations using TOMS procedures.
• Calibrate monitors, filters, tank levels and record key parameters such as pH, chlorine, aluminium and phosphate.
• Identify and flag any water‑quality exceptions for further action.
• Conduct regular inspections of plants, reservoirs and dams, and carry out risk assessments.
• Adhere to health and safety protocols and participate in the out‑of‑hours standby rota.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Attention to detail with accurate record‑keeping.
• Valid driving licence (company provides a van).
• Willingness to learn new computer systems and adapt to evolving technology.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of water‑treatment monitoring equipment.
