Weekend Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Weekend Maintenance Engineer to join a fast‑paced, dynamic engineering team in Tyne & Wear. The role involves 12‑hour day shifts on Saturdays and Sundays, with an additional shift on either Monday or Friday, providing critical support to keep production running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Attend and resolve equipment breakdowns promptly.
• Follow and improve preventative maintenance plans to reduce unplanned downtime.
• Ensure the annual PPM schedule is adhered to and completed.
• Record and carry out planned maintenance follow‑up work in a timely manner.
• Support root‑cause investigations for repetitive breakdowns and implement permanent solutions.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement activities.
• Assist with project work requiring engineering input.
• Improve line efficiency through timely repair, maintenance and equipment improvement.
• Enhance product quality and reduce spoilage via effective maintenance.

Required profile

• Recognised electrical engineering qualification (e.g., BEng, HND).
• Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in an industrial environment.
