Welder - Automotive Fabrication

About the role

Lotus UK Manufacturing, the UK headquarters of Lotus Cars, is looking for a Welder to join its Manufacturing team at its Norwich facility. The role produces high-quality fabricated assemblies that contribute to the build of the company's vehicles, working 38 hours per week in a collaborative manufacturing team.

Key responsibilities

• Manufacture fabricated assemblies using MIG/MAG, spot and TIG welding processes
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions and manufacturing processes
• Set up welding equipment and select the appropriate programmes
• Inspect and test completed assemblies before they move to the next production stage
• Use workshop equipment such as grinders, drills and power saws
• Complete production documentation and batch records
• Identify maintenance concerns and carry out first-line problem solving
• Work safely, keep the area clean and organised, and meet quality, safety and production targets

Required profile

• Ideally a qualification in welding and fabrication
• Experience in general fabrication and welding
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Knowledge of welding equipment and fabrication processes
• Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills
• Flexible approach and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
• Eligible to work in the UK without visa sponsorship

Required skills

• MIG/MAG, spot and TIG welding
• Light to medium gauge materials (a plus)
• Kanban or lean manufacturing knowledge (a plus)
• Interpreting complex engineering drawings (a plus)
