Wellbeing and Engagement Officer

About the role

The Wellbeing and Engagement Officer supports both on‑site and online students, ensuring a high‑quality welfare experience. The role combines direct pastoral care with administrative responsibilities to create a safe and supportive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage welfare cases, maintain accurate records in the student information system and ensure GDPR compliance.
• Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns and coordinate referrals to specialist services.
• Provide 1:1 pastoral support, develop and monitor individual Support Plans, and coordinate health registration with local GP practices.
• Organise and deliver welfare events, health‑promotion activities and Mitigating Circumstances processes.
• Support the Student‑Staff Liaison Committee and handle out‑of‑hours welfare issues on a time‑in‑lieu basis.
• Oversee reception and student‑facing areas, responding to queries via face‑to‑face, VLE, email and phone.

Required profile

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong administrative ability with attention to detail.
• Understanding of safeguarding policies and GDPR requirements.
• Experience working with young adults or students, particularly those with additional needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies.

• Fixed‑term full‑time contract until 31 August 2027.
