Wet Trade Operative – Property Maintenance

About the role

Axis CLC is seeking a skilled Wet Worker to join its Essex Maintenance Team, delivering high‑quality repairs and maintenance across the Estuary Housing portfolio. You will lead wet‑trade tasks while supporting multi‑trade activities, ensuring resident‑focused, first‑time fixes in occupied residential properties.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out wet trade works such as plastering, rendering, screeding, patch repairs and skimming.
• Perform wall and floor tiling and basic plumbing repairs.
• Undertake 1st and 2nd fix carpentry, painting and decorating to professional standards.
• Prepare surfaces, make good and complete finishing works across occupied residential properties.
• Record work in real time using the Axis mobile app and collaborate with supervisors, planners and admin teams.
• Complete risk assessments and follow health and safety procedures on every job.
• Support apprentices and participate in out‑of‑hours emergency call‑out rota as required.

Required profile

• Reliable and adaptable tradesperson with a strong focus on first‑time fixes.
• Clear communicator who works well within a team and with residents.
• Full UK driving licence and well‑maintained tool kit.
• Knowledge of social housing repairs and maintenance.
• Strong health and safety awareness and attention to detail.
