Wind Tunnel Test Engineer – Aerodynamics

About the role

Airbus is seeking a Wind Tunnel Test Engineer to lead and deliver wind‑tunnel campaigns for commercial aircraft programmes. Based at the Filton Low‑Speed Wind Tunnel, you will work on projects ranging from historic Concorde tests to the latest A350 XWB, collaborating with internal teams and external facilities worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate and lead wind‑tunnel test campaigns at Filton and at external facilities worldwide.
• Synthesise technical requirements into test plans, costings and formal documentation (specifications, programmes, memoranda).
• Coordinate technical specialists and liaise with external wind‑tunnel operators to ensure safe, successful test execution.
• Validate aerodynamic results throughout testing and integrate data with CFD and flight‑test activities.
• Travel frequently within the UK and internationally to support intensive testing periods.

Required profile

• A degree in Aerospace Engineering or an equivalent professional background in applied aerodynamics.
• Demonstrable technical knowledge of wind‑tunnel testing methodologies, experimental hardware and data‑correction techniques.
• Experience in technical project management with the ability to lead teams and manage stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills and digital proficiency.
