Woodwork Operative

About the role

We are looking for a Woodwork Operative to join a well‑established client on the outskirts of Ashford. The role involves cutting rejected wood pieces using saws and machinery and may progress into assembly work. You will work under a supportive manager with the possibility of moving from a temporary to a permanent contract.

Key responsibilities

• Operate saws and other cutting machinery to prepare wood for reuse in the assembly process.
• Handle and transport wood pieces, ensuring safe and efficient workflow.
• Assist with assembly tasks as required, gaining cross‑training in other production areas.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Comfortable with physical, manual work and able to lift up to 25 kg.
• Previous experience using handheld tools, in woodwork, production or general labour.
• Willingness to wear safety boots and hi‑vis attire at all times.
• Desirable experience operating a counter‑balance forklift.
