Workday HCM Lead

About the role

The organisation is launching a major greenfield transformation for the UK public sector, building a modern cloud‑based HR platform. As the Workday HCM Lead you will drive the design, configuration and evolution of a brand‑new Workday environment, acting as the technical authority for Human Capital Management.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end design and configuration of the Workday HCM platform, covering Core HCM, Organisations, Staffing Models, Job Architecture and Business Processes.
• Lead workshops with business stakeholders, architects and delivery partners to translate complex requirements into scalable, best‑practice solutions.
• Provide senior escalation support for configuration issues, oversee enhancements, releases and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure the platform remains robust, compliant and future‑ready while mentoring and up‑skilling team members.
• Deliver technical assurance across Workday developments and help shape the long‑term strategy for the enterprise HR system.

Required profile

• Significant experience delivering or supporting Workday HCM in large, complex organisations.
• Proven ability to act as both a technical specialist and a leadership figure.
• Strong knowledge of end‑to‑end HR processes and operating models.
• Track record of leading implementations, optimisations or enterprise‑scale support functions.
• Excellent stakeholder management and senior‑level influencing skills.
• Experience working in Agile, SAFe or hybrid delivery environments.
