Workforce Lead

About the role

We are supporting an NHS organisation and need an experienced Workforce Lead to drive the development, optimisation and strategic use of the workforce department. The role is fully remote and reports to senior management, overseeing a small team of HR specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a small team and provide expert workforce support.
• Produce HR workforce analytics, reports and dashboards to support decision‑making from the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system.
• Act as the primary liaison with the national ESR team, escalating and managing support tickets, monitoring progress and ensuring issues are resolved efficiently for end users.
• Manage any ESR Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.
• Streamline and improve workforce processes across the department.

Required profile

• Expert user of the ESR system.
• Strong background in workforce analytics, reporting and HR.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and project‑management abilities.
• Degree‑educated or equivalent experience, ideally with HR analytics or CIPD qualifications.
