Workshop and Field Service Engineer

About the role

Compact & Bale Ltd is seeking a skilled Workshop and Field Service Engineer to install, maintain and repair compactors, balers and related machinery for a diverse client base across South East England.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site installation, maintenance and repair of compactors, balers and associated equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults and implement effective solutions.
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Provide technical guidance, training and support to customers.
• Produce accurate service reports detailing parts used, repairs completed and recommendations.
• Maintain van stock levels and ensure tools and equipment are in good condition.
• Collaborate with the Technical Manager and manufacturers’ technical teams to improve service procedures.

Required profile

• Certification in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a similar field service role.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and manage multiple service calls.
• Strong problem‑solving aptitude and excellent communication skills.

• Competitive salary of £40,000 per annum.
