Workshop Engineer

About the role

The Workshop Engineer will join a multinational engineering firm in Biggleswade, delivering maintenance, repair and pre‑delivery inspection services for a range of industrial machines. This permanent, full‑time position offers a structured 40‑hour week and the chance to mentor apprentices while working closely with the Workshop Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair on plant equipment.
• Carry out pre‑delivery inspections of new machines.
• Fit approved extras and locally supplied components to machines.
• Diagnose faults, overhaul major components and complete repairs.
• Maintain clear communication with the Workshop Supervisor.
• Support and mentor engineering apprentices.

Required profile

• Full clean driving licence.
• Recognised apprenticeship in a related field (NVQ level 3 or above).
• Proven service engineer experience, especially with major component overhauls.
• Industry‑related training such as a CSCS card.
• Experience using service software and interfacing with equipment.
• Good communication skills.
