Workshop Manager – HGV Fleet Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead a team of HGV technicians across two busy workshops in Bishops Cleeve and Bristol. Reporting to the Fleet Engineer, you will ensure efficient, compliant, and high‑quality maintenance of our fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day workshop operations and ensure vehicle downtime is minimised.
• Plan workloads, manage labour schedules and allocate resources across both sites.
• Maintain compliance with LOLER, Operator Licence and other statutory requirements.
• Own fleet maintenance systems, workshop safety procedures and vehicle documentation.
• Drive performance improvements to maximise fleet availability.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing an HGV or commercial‑vehicle workshop.
• HGV Class 2 licence (or above) and relevant City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 qualification.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Experience with fleet maintenance software such as R2C.
• Understanding of LOLER inspections and Operator Licence compliance.
• Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
