Workshop Technician

About the role

ORCA is seeking a Workshop Technician to join its workshop team, responsible for assembling, refurbishing, testing and maintaining diving and offshore support equipment. The role ensures that all equipment meets the highest standards of quality, safety and performance before deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, maintain and test mechanical systems and equipment according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Carry out pipefitting activities, including fabrication, installation, modification and testing of pipework and instrument tubing.
• Remove, install, overhaul and refurbish mechanical components and assemblies.
• Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs and technical documentation to support workshop work.
• Conduct dimensional inspections and measurements using calibrated equipment.
• Identify defects or damage and provide detailed condition reports to the Project Engineer.
• Support pressure, leak and functional testing of mechanical and piping systems.
• Clean, preserve and prepare equipment for deployment, storage or transport.
• Assist with mobilisation and demobilisation of diving and offshore support equipment.
• Maintain workshop tools, equipment and work areas safely and in an organised manner.
• Record defects, non‑conformances and maintenance activities in the Quality Management System.
• Comply with HSEQ requirements and exercise Stop Work Authority when needed.

Required profile

• Time‑served Mechanical Technician, Fitter, Pipefitter or a relevant engineering qualification.
• Experience in mechanical assembly, pipefitting, hydraulic systems or offshore/subsea equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
• Experience with stainless‑steel tubing, compression fittings and instrument pipework is desirable.
• Strong commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible and willing to support offshore or site activities when required.
