Yard Marshall – Transport Operations

About the role

We are seeking a proactive, safety‑focused Yard Marshall to join the Transport Department at our Port Clarence site. Working Monday to Friday, you will be at the heart of our transport activities, supporting drivers, maintaining site safety standards, and helping to optimise fleet movements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and monitor the parking and positioning of tractors and trailers across the site.
• Support efficient turnaround of company and contract drivers collecting loaded trailers.
• Assist in reducing loading overtime at the Seal Sands operation.
• Act as the first point of contact for drivers commencing their shifts.
• Promote safe, efficient, and compliant working practices in line with transport legislation.
• Monitor yard activities and report any non‑conformities or safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate records of trailer movements during shunting operations.
• Pre‑load backloads as directed by the Transport Office.
• Support continuous operational improvement and effective communication between transport teams and drivers.

Required profile

• HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
• ADR qualification and strong understanding of ADR regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, drivers, contractors, and site personnel.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Proactive approach to safety and operational efficiency.
• Reliable, professional and safety‑conscious.
• Team‑oriented with a positive attitude, able to work independently.
• Flexible and willing to undertake additional reasonable duties.
