Yard Operative / Driver (Part‑time Contractor)

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Yard Operative/Driver to join our team at BCA Thurleigh. The role involves moving, handling and storing vehicles safely while meeting site and customer standards on a part‑time contract basis.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic vehicle movement and handling within the yard.
• Use HHD scanners to locate, track and direct vehicle movements (training provided).
• Carry out routine vehicle checks and report any issues to the line manager.
• Park vehicles according to customer specifications and site speed limits.
• Inspect vehicles for damage before moving and log findings.
• Maintain personal safety and that of colleagues in the work area.
• Undertake additional yard duties as directed by supervisors.

Required profile

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable driving both manual and automatic vehicles.
• Full, valid UK driver’s licence (DVLA check, max 6 points, no disqualifications).
• Minimum 2 years of relevant driving experience.
• Right to work in the UK and age 21 or older.
