Yard Operative & Forklift Counterbalance Driver

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Yard Operative who can also operate a Counterbalance Forklift and Sideloader within a busy timber distribution yard in Chester. The role offers a stable Monday‑to‑Friday schedule with no weekend work and the chance to progress from a temporary placement to a permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload vehicles safely using a Counterbalance Forklift and Sideloader.
• Palletise timber materials efficiently and securely.
• Move, organise and store timber stock throughout the yard.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well‑ordered working environment.
• Follow all health and safety procedures at all times.
• Provide courteous customer service during collections and deliveries.

Required profile

• Valid RTITB or ITSSAR Counterbalance Forklift licence, refreshed within the last three years.
• Previous experience operating a Counterbalance Forklift.
• Willingness to be trained on a Combi Lift/Sideloader (experience advantageous).
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking with strong communication skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to learn.
