Yardsperson & Relief Driver – Pump Hire Operations

About the role

Join Selwood Limited’s busy pump‑hire branch in Dartford as a Yardsperson / Relief Driver. You will work on‑site in the yard, supporting the loading and unloading of lorries to ensure pumps and equipment reach customers on time, 24/7, 365 days a year.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and tidy yard and workshop environment.
• Assist with loading and unloading vehicles, checking paperwork, noting any missing items, damages or fuel charges.
• Support fitting staff with lifting, moving, and on‑site tasks as directed.
• Carry out risk visual assessments before loading/unloading activities and ensure compliance with Department of Transport regulations and the Highway Code.
• Operate tachographs correctly and adhere to drivers’ hours legislation.

Required profile

• Valid LGV licence with Hi‑ab (with hook) endorsement.
• Forklift licence.
• Previous experience in a similar yard or logistics environment.
• Good communication skills and a reliable, can‑do attitude.
• Physically fit to handle the demands of the role.

• Base salary of £46,551 per year, up to £60,958 with overtime, call‑out payments and allowances.
