Year 1 Teacher – Stoke Newington (Hackney)

About the role

This is a one‑year fixed‑term position for a Year 1 Teacher in a highly regarded two‑form entry primary school in Stoke Newington, Hackney. You will join a supportive leadership team and be responsible for a class of around 30 enthusiastic pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, purposeful lessons for Year 1 pupils.
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain high expectations for all learners.
• Collaborate with a dedicated Teaching Assistant and Learning Support Assistant.
• Implement the Read Write Inc. phonics programme.
• Contribute positively to the wider school community.

• Strong classroom practitioner with a commitment to excellent pupil outcomes.
• Ability to inspire, challenge and nurture young learners.
• Effective classroom management and organisational skills.
• Team‑player who embraces a collaborative school culture.

Required skills

• Experience with, or willingness to learn, the Read Write Inc. phonics programme.
