Year 5 Primary Teacher – Wigan

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Year 5 Primary Teacher to join a welcoming, "Good" rated primary school in Wigan. The successful candidate will take full classroom responsibility for a Year 5 cohort, guiding them through the crucial final year of primary education.

Key responsibilities

• Create and deliver high‑quality lessons aligned with the National Curriculum.
• Monitor pupil progress and use assessment data to inform planning and interventions.
• Foster a positive learning culture that encourages curiosity and confidence.
• Collaborate with the Year 6 transition team and support staff to ensure smooth curriculum continuity.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching within Key Stage 2, preferably with upper KS2 experience.
• Strong understanding of the Year 5 curriculum and assessment frameworks.
• Excellent classroom management and ability to build quick rapport with students.
• Commitment to the inclusive, community‑focused ethos of Wigan schools.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the National Curriculum for Key Stage 2.
• Proficiency in using assessment data to drive instruction.
